In the course, the working groups created a strategic and policy plan for a city or for a smaller city region. Our course selected Tampere city region to be the case of the study. Our vision, "the Maple Leaf", emphasized the development of public transportation, increasing biodiversity, ecosystem services, local green energy production and possibilities of ecological lifestyles.
We used the scenario method to create possible futures of Tampere city 2050. The three main scenarios that we used to back up our strategic development vision were: The Self Sufficient Tampere, Welfare state 2.0 and the Stagnant Course. By comparing the scenarios to each other, we created a document of desired police measures for development, impact assessment analysis and strategy plan for anticipated risks.
